Scope of Services
Technical Solutions & Services executed a Power System Short-Circuit Analysis, Protection Coordination Study, and Arc Flash Hazard Assessment for the electrical distribution system of the BHP Nickel West Kwinana Nickel Refinery. The scope covered in-service electrical networks from 11 kV down to 415 V, including substations, switchboards, MCCs, and associated feeders. The services were delivered as a subcontractor to Sigma Power Services and included development and validation of the electrical network model in DIgSILENT PowerFactory, calculation of short-circuit fault levels in accordance with IEC 60909, review and coordination of protection relay settings, and arc flash hazard analysis in line with IEEE 1584. The assessment considered multiple operating and contingency scenarios to determine arc flash boundaries, incident energy levels, and applicable PPE categories in accordance with relevant international standards
